5 Great Gifts for a One-Year-Old

Monday, July 18, 2016

It's been a little over a week since Charlee's first birthday party and it has been SO fun watching her play with all of her new toys! If you're anything like me though, shopping for a one-year-old is TOUGH. Seriously, figuring out what I wanted to get her for her birthday was such a dilemma! I knew that I wanted to get her something that she could play with/keep for awhile but at the same time I didn't want to get anything too advanced that she wouldn't show any interest in for years! I reallyyyyy researched gifts and was debating between 3 different ideas but in the end I am SO glad I went with what I did.

Just in case you are struggling with figuring out what to get yours or a friends little one I narrowed down the best 5 gifts (in no particular order) that Charlee received that have definitely kept her attention since her birthday!

Five Great Gifts for One-Year-Olds:
1) My parents got Charlee this awesome restaurant styled kitchen and she LOVES it!! We were a little nervous that it would be too advanced for her but we have been pleasantly surprised to find that it's perfect. Sure, she doesn't understand what everything does but she has so much fun stirring things in the pot and then pretending to feed it to either mommy or daddy or her little baby dolls! It really is the cutest thing to watch her play with and I highly recommend this gift! It will be the perfect toy to help keep her entertained when her little brother makes his grand entrance as well as be the perfect toy for them to both play with for years to come!
2) Lee and I were debating between 3 different things- A water table, a teepee or a baby doll. Although the water table and teepee would have been fun I am SO glad that we ended up giving her a baby doll. I was so surprised at how much she loved it and how quickly she attached to it! The thing comes everywhere with us. It is so fun to watch her push the baby in the stroller and pretend to feed it from the "meals" she makes at her kitchen. She loves "ba-ba" and I really think it is the perfect gift for a little 1-year-old! Plus, I am thinking it will be a great help when I am taking care of baby brother- she can be taking care of her baby at the same time! Hashtag Win-Win.

3) This gift is such an easy and "budget-friendly" gift that it almost should be #1 on the list if this list was prioritized. Charlee has truly loved flipping through the pages of these board books and really does "read" them to herself and also to her babies. She puts her little finger on the pages and moves it along as if she is reading it word for word! Adorable.  I am planning on getting even more of these books for her little play corner because they are indestructible and offer great exposure to new concepts!

4) To be honest, at first, this little horse scared the crap out of C. It has two buttons, one on each ear, that either gets the horse to gallop or sing and lets just say that the Gallop mode freaked the heck out of Charlee! After sitting with her and helping her warm up to the little horse she has fallen in love with it and presses those buttons non-stop throughout the day! Seriously, I know every word to the little song it sings and often times find myself singing it without even realizing it!! HELP! In all seriousness though, Charlee has really grown fond of this little horse and I have a feeling that the moment it breaks I'll be online buying another one! Cuddle-Barn is the company that makes these little animals and they offer a great variety to choose from so it would be the perfect gift for someone who already has a favorite animal!
5) A friend of ours got Charlee this little Stroller Walker and it is such a neat idea!! It not only helps her walk but she gets to put her babies in it and play "Mommy!" Its the perfect toy for those that are just learning how to walk or those that are still a little wobbly!

For those that are struggling, I hope these ideas helped! And, if you have any other gifts that have been great for your one-year-old, I would love to hear them in the comments!

As always,
xoxo
